چکیده
In this study, two-step surface modification of sawdust using triethanolamine (at 180 °C) and iodomethane 42 was performed to produce a novel quaternized biosorbent, TEA-I-SD. The characterization studies revealed significant morphological changes in the successful quaternization with nitrogen content 5.75%. highest vanadium removal (96.2%) achieved at pH 4 (dosage 1 g/L, initial concentration 19.1 mg/L). Equilibrium within 8 h contact time adsorption kinetics were well fitted pseudo-second-order model. Both film diffusion intra-particle contributed process, while latter rate-limiting step. maximum capacity TEA-I-SD (35.0 mg/g, 4) close theoretical value obtained from Langmuir best fit Redlich-Peterson model, exhibiting monolayer phenomenon. Tests real mine water containing 11 mg/L also confirmed its high (91.3%, dosage g/L) 4. could be reused three times without loss after regeneration, although desorption efficiency rather low (synthetic solution: 38.5–40.5% water: 26.2–43.1%).

Vanadium(V) removal from aqueous solution and real wastewater using quaternized pine sawdust.
Cross-linked and quaternized pine sawdust was tested for vanadium removal from a synthetic aqueous solution as well as from real industrial wastewater which had a considerable amount of vanadium and other ions such as sulphate, ammonium and nickel. The maximum vanadium sorption capacity of the modified pine sawdust was found to be 130 mg/g in synthetic solution and 103 mg/g in real wastewater. ...

The adsorption of lead, cadmium and nicel from aqueous solution by sawdust of walnut was investigated. The effect of contact time, initial metal ion concentration and temperature on metal ions removal has been studied. The equilibrium time was found to be of the order of 60 min. Kinetics fit pseudo first-order, second-order and intraparticle diffusion models, hence adsorption rate constants wer...
متن کاملComparative Studies of Physical Characteristics of Raw and Modified Sawdust for Their Use as Adsorbents for Removal of Acid Dye
The present paper aims to investigate the physical characteristics of sawdust relative to its use as an adsorbent for removal of an acid dye (Orange G) from aqueous solutions. The raw sawdust was sieved to have a uniform size and was activated by sulphuric acid by refluxing the content at 60 C for 4 h. Surface morphology and surface functional groups of both raw and modified sawdust samples wer...
متن کاملApplication of magnetized Sawdust Cross-linked by polyethyleniminefor removal Zn2+ from aqueous solution
The need to elimination heavy metal from aqueous solutions cannot be over emphasized.Very studies have investigated the removal heavy metal from water. In this study a new magnetic nanocomposite of PEI on magnetized Sawdust (SD/MNP/PEI) was prepared. Investigations were conducted to study the adsorption behavior of heavy metal Zn (II) on the SD/MNP/PEI nanocomposite in aqueous medium by varying...
متن کاملMaterial Removal by Arc Ablation
Arc ablation holds the promise of fast, low-cost metal removal at faster rates than laser, plasma and electron-beam methods and without the tooling and fixturing forces of conventional machining. Preliminary results show surface finishes in the tens of microns range at high material removal rates (MRRs) by adaptive control of arc voltage: up to 97 mm3/sec at 4 kW. These results far exceed the c...
